Etymologically derived from Greek Demos (people) and Graphrein (to write/describe), Demography is the scientific and statistical study of human populations.

In Anthropology, Demographic Anthropology / Anthropological Demography integrates quantitative demographic techniques with qualitative ethnographic methods to understand how culture, kinship, marriage, ecology, and biology shape population processes (fertility, mortality, and migration).
